Play
Beer Golf!
Putt-Putt
and Chug-a-Lug
The game known as Beer Golf is
popular at college campuses all
over the South. Usually
played on gorgeous, spring days
and sometimes even on punishing,
hot summer afternoons, Beer Golf
is a sport that really puts some
action into drinking. In its
traditional form, Beer Golf can be
a very difficult though
hilariously fun game.
Players can number from two to
twenty, all you need is a good
supply of booze and some wheels.
Plus a willing
"refreshment" caddy
(free drinks help). Each
player has a tennis ball (note:
not a golf ball). You begin
by designating the first
hole. For example:
"that tree over there".
Player One attempts to hit the
target with his tennis ball via a
classic golf swing. Then he has a
drink. Or two.
Everyone takes a turn, and each
player drinks after each of their
turns until they hit the target.
From there you select the next
target: "Bert's mom's
car", whatever. You
drag the keg or shopping cart or
wagon or stroller around with you,
keeping a constant supply of suds.
Gradually, as the game goes on, it
becomes more challenging, and
often the designated holes have to
start getting bigger and easier to
hit.
Obviously, the more everyone
"gets into the game",
the harder it is to hit the
target, the more people have to
drink, and so on. Pretty
soon that keg or wheelbarrow
you've been dragging around gets
pretty cumbersome. Wouldn't
a Covert
Cooler carried
along right with your clubs be
easier? Plus, even if
everyone else is drinking a lager,
you've got your own supply of
stout right with you.
Everybody is happy, and everybody
wins, when you play Beer Golf!
