How to Work with Golf Pros

Golf Pros are one of the most valuable assets a Promotional Distributor could possible tap into.  The key is to understand how they work and what is required of you to market to them. 

Like anything else it's all about the relationship.  Simply calling these guys will in most cases turn them off to you.  Our most successful distributors utilize our list of 16,000 golf pros, which by the way, we invested good money to obtain for our distributors.  If you're not utilizing this list, give us a call now or visit our download page to access........... The best way to utilize this list is to utilize a program like Intellicontact.  Intellicontact is an email based marketing system and it's very inexpensive.  For more information about Intellicontact go to their website at www.intellicontact.com

Our golf pro list is very accurate, but there is no way to tell if a golf pro is full time, part time, or a head Pro.  It's the Head Golf Pro you're trying to contact.  The Head Golf Pro works with Charity and Corporate Golf Tournaments and Golf Management companies.  So your whole goal is to contact and develop a relationship with the Head Golf Pro.

By utilizing our list you can use Intellicontact to send and email to the list of Golf Pros in your area.  Explain who you are and how your organization can be of service.  Ask the Pro if he or she could give you the contact information of the Head Golf Pro. 

Here's where the beauty of Intellicontact comes into play.  The program allows for custom fields.  Custom Fields allow you to address the Golf Pro you are contacting by their first name, last, address, golf course, etc, etc, etc.  Intellicontact allows you to upload a database of customers with multiple entries.  I.E. the first column in your spreadsheet may be titled [firstname], all the entries under that title or "Custom Field" will be referenced in the email. 

So now you can customize your email.  [Dan], I understand you are a golf pro at [the golf course name].  I would like to introduce myself.  Do you have a contact phone number by which I can reach you?

Now Dan feels like you personalized the email to him when in fact everyone on the list got the exact same email.  Intellicontact puts the [custom field] in the email message for you.  Now you can personalize your emails to thousands for people. 

By tweaking this process you will now be able to contact multiple golf pros about your services.  I.e. We have the Covert Cooler and would like to show you the product and what it can do for you and your golf tournaments. 

Once you get the Head Golf Pro referral, you now have a name to throw out.  I.E.  I was talking with "Dan" and he told me you are in charge of managing golf tournaments. 

This is the key, once you've established a contact, you now have a 'WARM" referral.  The head golf pro obviously knows Dan, so he's now open to speak with you. 

Repeat this process for your whole area, then expand out.   We currently have distributors who have 30-40 golf pros who are consistently sending orders for the Covert Cooler weekly. 

The Covert Cooler is such a new product the Head Golf Pros are very interested in learning more about it.  It's a perfect opportunity for you to schedule a meeting and begin your relationship.  Thus the residual aspect of servicing your customer now begins.  If you do this for 30-40 golf pros and golf courses, you will now sell the Covert Cooler and all your other promotioanl materials on a daily/weekly basis.  It's a very good way to grow your busines.  Furthermore, by utilizing intellicontact you can now stay in front of your new customer and offer the appearance of a large distributorship when in fact you are the only employee.

Remember, the Covert Cooler is a great option for the Golf Pro for several reasons.  One, on the day of the tournament, you can use it to keep all the other promotional items in one, convenient package.  Two, it's unique and new to the industry. Golfers love it.  Three, golf courses can utilize it to increase liquor sales.
