Summer brings family reunions and friendly gatherings to the nation’s courses.

Summer is, of course, the number one season for family vacations and family reunions. The rowdy Brlansky family, which numbers around 50, tries to get together every few years, bringing folks from Michigan, Texas, and Arizona over to the East Coast for some old-fashioned Slovak-style family fun. Reports Chris Conlon, organizer of the event and grandson of the oldest of the 3 Brlansky sisters: “The Covert Cooler was a really clever and popular golf tee prize for our tournament the first weekend of June. The golf tee prize was a huge hit with the hardcore golfers in the group, of course. Cousin Tom Sax, son of Martha, the youngest Brlansky sister, was equally impressed: “I play golf all the time, with clients and with friends.
